Beaufort County Traditional Music Association

This three-piece band was formed in 2017 by musicians who share a love of playing upbeat, energetic and exciting bluegrass music. The band is composed of Ben Chontos on bass and vocals, Jones Smith on mandolin and vocals, and Randy Hawse on banjo. Their bluegrass musical influences include Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, The Stanley Brothers, and Don Reno. They also enjoy playing old time, Americana, and honkytonk music. A lively evening is in store with Folkstone Stringband!

Ben Chantos, Jones Smith, and Randy Hawes specialize in hard driving and fast picking bluegrass music. They have been playing together for six years, but separately with one or the other for over 15 years. All have been playing music since childhood. They play regionally at breweries and entertainment venues as well as private events, corporate events, weddings, and parties of all types.
